Fuel Energy Saving update with Mileage Maxx.

Well, the price of oil continues to increase. On Friday sweet crude closed at $80.50 a barrel.

Gas prices are currently $2.79 around here, and I seriously doubt they will ever go back down this year.

That's why I have begun exploring ways of increasing the fuel economy of my vehicles. Methods include the use of proper oils, even partial synthetics, and hi-flow air filters, maintaining proper tire pressures and driving slower. Driving slower is not always practical in every situation, but has made a small difference.

That said, I never considered the fuel itself could make a difference. So I started experimenting.  I tried a couple of off the shelf fuel additives. The results were less than disappointing, no increase of miles per tank, and no throttle responsiveness, nothing that stood out to make me take notice.

Then I found a new product from Smith Ross called Mileage Maxx. Being skeptical, I still gave it a try.

Starting in June, '09, I added the recommended amount to a full tank into my '02 Venture for a first application test vehicle. I figured at the time it had 127K miles on the original injectors, what the heck right?  Would you believe within the first 10 miles, I could feel the responsiveness of the engine had changed for the better? Furthermore, the engine now idled smoother too! These results were encouraging. Then eight days later, and 361 miles later I refueled.

WOW!

I normally refuel within 317 - 320 miles, every 6 or7 days. HMM. I actually realized I increased my mileage upwards of 21%!

In earlier posts I already spoke about my trip to the Green Bay , WI using the fuel saver.  I drove 866 miles total, door to door, on two tanks of fuel.  That equated to an astounding 28.8 mpg for the 7 year old engine with 128K miles on the engine.

I'm now testing the product in a 2008 Mountaineer with the 4.0L engine that has 36K miles on it.  Just started the testing this week, stay tuned!

WOW!!  What else is there to say?

Never had I thought a fuel additive like this could be this effective, that is until now.  I'm convinced.

I have often wondered why our American auto makers have stoically resisted innovative ideas that would lower our dependence on oil. Gee, look where that has gotten them today? To look back in hindsight, which more American auto maker didn’t accept any government stimulus monies in 2009?? Don’t even go there for all electric and zero emission vehicles. Today, a zero emissions vehicle cannot deliver the range its oil consuming counterpart can.



Enter the variable into the equation; the fuel pumped into your tank. Where was it refined? How old is it? How long was it stored before being delivered into your gas station’s tanks? Am I really getting the octane/cetane rating I’m paying for?

How would an extra 25% MPG increase affect you?

My family and I recently took a weekend getaway trip from our home in Will County IL, up to Shawano County, WI (north & west of Green Bay) to visit with some friends and to see the spectacular fall colors that are now nearing their peak. The trip was 408 miles door to door one way, and would you believe it, we arrived with 1/3rd of a tank remaining. We made the same trip last year, in the same vehicle and had to refuel right away. This time we had fuel to spare!

That’s right, 1/3rd of a tank! The seven year old 2002 Chevy Venture mini van, now with 129.4K miles on it is what we drove in. The van’s average is now a spectacular 28.9 MPG! Is that incredible or what?

What a year for strange weather this has been and now here in the Midwest, we're experiencing temperatures that are more typical for late October, not late September.  Brrr.

What am I getting at?  The costs of energy we all pay to the companies that produce it.  Do you like what you pay for your energy costs?

Doing Your Part for a Greener, Stronger America and Planet

Just an observation. How much do we pay attention to advertising? 

Everyday from the moment we rise out of bed, we're bombarded with free radio, internet radio, TV, billboard, bumper stickers, license plate frames, rolling billboards, print ads.  This list could go on and on and on. 

Do you pay attention to them?  I sure do.  Why?  Because, if you haven't noticed, the messages are changing.  Have you noticed?  Sure, they're asking you to spend your money on a product or service, of course that what the advertisers pay for.  That is a given.

But really, if you pay closer attention to those smaller ads, you can hear the heartbeat of America still beating.  It's the small business men & and women trying to keep this country strong and helping the local economies.

That is what I'm here to do, and if you're here reading this, I hope you are too.  As long as the small business people are given a chance, we will make this country strong again.
